Why Sonic Depths?

Music has always been there when I dove deep into work or study—finding that sweet spot where concentration flows effortlessly. I know the magic of instrumental tracks, how they can help focus without distracting lyrics or sudden interruptions.

But, here's the thing: I crave variety. I want a seamless blend of genres that doesn't feel like switching from jazz to house to ambient in the blink of an eye. I'm all about sonic stories—build-ups, smooth transitions, and creating an immersive experience.

That's where Sonic Depths comes in. It's the fusion of my passion for crafting sonic stories with the quest to curate playlists that elevate focus and productivity.

How it all started

My journey into the world of music began at the age of 14 when I synced two songs from different tapes using cassette decks—my first taste of mix-making magic. From that moment, I was hooked. Fast forward to now, at 42, and my love for music hasn't waned a bit. I've collected over a thousand records spanning various genres, from electronica to ambient, jazz to hip-hop. You name it, I've likely got a record for it.

Sharing music since '98

I've been sharing my passion for music through my podcast and blog since way back in '98. You might have stumbled upon me on Bassculture.org or WorldsBelow100Hz.com. These platforms have been my playground to celebrate music in all its forms.

Over the years, I've had the honor of sharing stages with some amazing international DJ's (Goldie, DJ Fresh) and got featured on radio stations across Belgium (urgent.fm, Studio Brussel, Radio Panik). I've held residencies in top spots across the country, playing drum&bass, lounge or jazz. It's been a wild ride, and it's shaped how I see and feel music.

While I've got a soft spot for drum and bass—heck, I even make my own tunes—it's the diversity of music that truly captivates me. Sonic Depths was born out of my relentless curiosity. It's my way of stitching together tracks, blending them into stories that speak to fellow music lovers.
